Full Moon in Scorpio

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio May 2022 - Bella deLuna
In this lunar cycle, our Full Moon is on May 1 at 12:22 pm EDT.

The Full Moon is a time of culmination, making decisions, and bringing things to the light. Full Moons are bright beacons in the sky, and they can literally and metaphorically act as a spotlight, illuminating what we were missing or overlooking before. Perhaps even what we were too busy to see (or didn’t want to see).

A Scorpio Full Moon wants us to dive deep into our world of feelings and shadow, braving the darkness to see what we uncover.

After all, we have the light of the Full Moon to light our way and guide us through our inner caves, our companion in the darkness. This is a time of transformation when secrets slip and we find it easier to share our desires with others. But we can also feel overwhelmed by the depth of our feelings.

When I think of the zodiac signs, I have imagery that pops in my head that helps me relate to them and feel into their energy a bit better. The water signs, Scorpio, Pisces, and Cancer, are all similar but to me they exist in very different landscapes. Pisces is creative and dreamy, and I think of lounging in a pool, floating on your back in the water, just letting your mind drift away (and distracted by the bright and colorful pool toys). Cancer of course exists at the ocean, but our watery crab friend can curl up inside their shell or crawl up to the edges of the sea whenever overwhelm kicks in. Scorpio to me looks like your ordinary body of water, like a calm lake at night, but when you step in you quickly release that there is no bottom. It is a mythical tide pool of fathomless depths. Scorpio can dive much deeper than any of our other water signs and has no fear in doing on. Scorpio loves to uncover the mystery and magic, to find the man behind the curtain, and then go further and discover the motivation and desire of the man.

So at this Full Moon, it is an excellent time to sit and discover new depths to yourself. Mysticism and magic are also tools you could use on your quest to discover more, and the tarot spread below is a great launching point.

This Full Moon is square Pluto, which acts like an echo to the Full Moon, as Scorpio is ruled by Pluto. This brings up intense emotions and perhaps power struggles. How can you make sure you are not giving your power away now?

Look back to the middle of November of last year to see what themes were occurring in your life then. This Full Moon is helping to wrap something up from that time.

Some questions to ask yourself on this Full Moon:
  • What in your life is ready to be released?

  • What part of you is transforming?

  • Where do you hide your power away?
