The New Moon is the time when the Moon is not visible in the sky because the Moon is directly between the Earth and the Sun. It is a time of new beginnings, like a seed being planted in the earth. It is a potent time for manifestation and dreaming of what you want to bring into your life - this could be a material object, a value, a feeling, a relationship, an opportunity, or so many other things.
The New Moon is time for intention setting and dreaming, but not action, not just yet. You want to simmer in the potential for a little while, like a seed opening up underground and sending roots into the soil for water and nourishment. Focus on your roots before your sprout upward.
Often we feel like we know exactly what we want to manifest with our New Moon intention, but I’ve found that we’re often after something that will bring us a certain state of being.
Here’s an example. Let’s say you want to manifest the garden of your dreams. Is it really the garden that you want, or is the feeling that you get from the garden in your mind? By diving deep into your intention with all your five senses, you’re more likely to dig to the core of what your heart desires, letting the Universe guide what shape it will show up into your life.
This New Moon meditation will help you do exactly that.
Feel free to do a lot of dreaming and catnapping during the New Moon time, using vision boards to make your goals and intentions more concrete. The aim here is to dream big and not limit yourself but really feel into your intention not only the day of the New Moon but every day after as well.
New Moon Rituals
The New Moon is the time to set an intention, or goal, for the upcoming lunar cycle. It’s a time to begin something new or start a new cycle, so it’s important to get crystal clear on your goal and more importantly, the feelings you have behind it.
Connecting with the feelings behind your intention is the key to manifesting your heart’s desires and bringing your intention to fulfillment.
Some rituals ideas:
Write down your intention - it can even be a list! Put it somewhere you will see it often. If you’re visual, make a vision board with cut outs from a magazine, create a Pinterest board of inspiration, or get out your craft supplies and draw what you want to call in.
Use an oracle deck, such as the Soul Care Oracle Deck, for guidance if you're having trouble narrowing down your intention.
Meditate on your intention while holding a piece of labradorite.
Journal as if you had already manifested your intention. What does that look like?
Research on a plan to move closer to your New Moon intention and create action steps to take during the First Quarter Moon.
