This week we have a New Moon in Sagittarius on December 19 at 8:43 pm EDT (find your time here).

This New Moon is in Sagittarius, the truth-teller of the zodiac. The key though, is that we remember to listen. We can become so fixated on what we view as the truth… when it is really our belief, and not one we should necessarily push onto others.

Sagittarius is the last of the fire signs in the zodiac and is the sign that heralds the end of Autumn. At this point in the season, we’ve finished up the bulk of our metaphorical harvest from the seeds we’ve sown over the year, and are looking forward to gathering with friends and family to celebrate.

The symbol of Sagittarius is that of a Centaur, a creature that is half horse and half man. Sagittarius represents the line between our two minds. Our more base, animal instincts mind, and that that seeks out knowledge and higher understanding.

While on the surface, Sagittarius energy wants to explore, travel, and seek out adventures, there is a deeper need and desire to turn that wanderlust energy inward through higher education, spirituality, and gathering wisdom. Sagittarius energy has equal amounts of outward expansion and inward knowing and intuition.

This New Moon is squared by Neptune, helping us tap into what our big dreams our without being hindered by the thoughts we construct around what is our isn’t possible. Of course, we always have to be aware when Neptune is visiting, because we can get caught up in illusion and think that what is fantasy is reality. Thankfully, Uranus is involved in this New Moon chart that keeps us a little more grounded. Overall, this New Moon is a wonderful way to wrap up 2025 when the reality of many of our situations can seem bleak. The energies of this New Moon can help us escape that, at least for a little while, and get in touch with our creative side that longs to dream without restrictions. Let those dreams inspire you and perhaps spark a new idea or two for the upcoming year.
